Who is Michael?...
Michael D. Purvis, BME, is a graduate of Butler University and is the founder of three outreaches, a recording studio and a publishing company. A life-long student and seeker of truth, Mr. Purvis is an accomplished author, fine artist, recording artist, and teacher of many subjects to people of all ages, from childhood through elderhood. His artistic, instructional and entrepreneurial endeavors include: life-coaching, spiritual counseling, teaching private piano, voice and guitar, performing uplifting programs for the elderly, composing, recording, writing and illustrating. His wide and ever-evolving selection of books and recordings delight, uplift and instruct people of all ages, and feature his original self-help and musical instruction, fiction, poetry, musical renditions and compositions, and artwork. A Letter from Michael...

I am not a priest, or minister; though I minister to others through my live, inspirational, musical programs, life coaching, spiritual counseling and through my books recordings and videos. I am not a registered therapist, though I consider myself a healer through this same work.

What I am is a lifelong, extremely diligent seeker of truth who has been able to make some amazing healings, changes, and transformations, and enhancements in my own life. I have been able to set off on all sorts of creative, spiritual and entrepreneurial adventures- all through putting the search for wisdom, love and truth (i.e. spirit) first in my life, making these a part of my daily life, not being afraid to make changes, trusting that the miraculous is possible in the everyday, and that the Divine is with me, and mirrors my inner state.

Well, many things have led me into Spiritual Counseling.

First of all, I am a good teacher. I have an education degree from Butler University and have taught many things to people of all ages, throughout my career. I've taught general music in public schools, incorporation of the arts at conventions and activity director courses, and guitar, piano and voice in private lesson settings. I have, as well, directed choirs, led poetry groups, taught and administrated theater- and all sorts of things.

All of this experience has been essentially teaching and working with people, and organizing and helping others to find joy, peace, and fulfillment themselves (or to helping them to help others to find these things).

In addition, I am the child of two teachers who advised me to love wisdom and be a life-long searcher. And, since this is such good advice, I have taken it all my life. I have read and read and searched and searched! But there is a part of me which gravitates toward the mystical, and so in my reading and searching I have also sought after that indescribable yet tangible (at least to the mystic!) essence we call the Divine.

Now all of this is wonderful, but the best thing of all is that I have discovered some very practical and spiritual tools in all my searching and yearning for the Divine. And these tools are truly helpful in processing, healing and transforming ourselves and our lives. I have discovered that these tools, when employed in the midst of a life which makes time for the divine, and when used by a person who is seeking to release ambivalence and get very clear and focused inside, are extremely powerful. I want to share these tools and this method of making or even scheduling time for the divine with you and with the world! I want to help you and the world learn to use the time that we are each given every day to get very clear and focused, to release our inner ambivalence, to listen, to heal, and trust, to connect with the divine and with each other, and to begin to manifest our highest dreams and inner goodness!

Now, as we work together, you can take what works for you, and leave the rest, for I am not, of course, a guru. Nor do I promote exclusively any one particular philosophy, or religious structure. There are so many things we can learn from! I am a proponent of universal truth, and I want to encourage you to find your own personal truth- what works for you. I will show you some methods which work well, and encourage you to be your own searcher and student of life!

Now please keep in mind that none of this should interfere with your own beliefs or religious background. By all means, stay rooted in what speaks to your soul, but I hope you will keep an open mind and heart, so God, as you conceive of God, can work in your soul and your life.

Also, please note that the Spiritual Counseling I offer you is not traditional psychotherapy, and I should point out as well that I am not a certified therapist. I encourage you to seek out conventional therapy should you or I feel that there are emotional issues which need the sort of processing that traditional therapy can offer. In our Spiritual Counseling we may touch on emotional issues should you wish to, and see how these might relate to developing and designing a life which incorporates spiritual practice. However, you must keep in mind that this is not the primary goal of spiritual counseling, and that you must seek traditional therapy should you feel that you are experiencing significant emotional pain, and need the help of a mental health professional.

Mainly, I am here to guide you, motivate you, and show you how to begin to set into motion a life which places spirit first, and thus will allow you to process what needs to be processed, and heal what needs to be healed. I am here to help you design a life which includes spirit so that through the spiritual practice which is right for you, you can transform yourself and your life more easily, effectively and fulfillingly than you ever imagined. For placing a priority on the spirit accomplishes amazing things! By making spirit a priority, we put ourselves in tune with the force of love which motivate s and energizes all in our universe. We put ourselves in tune with the force of love, for whom the miraculous is everyday. Thus for us the miraculous becomes everyday too!

Through focusing on seeking spirit and making it a part of my life, through my inner life, study, work, creative life etc., I have been able to make some amazing changes in my life and add some wonderful enhancements to my life. I have been able to set off on all sorts of creative, spiritual and entrepreneurial adventures.
